Meet Dr. Cheryl Bothwell: The Science Behind Mother F

Dr. Cheryl Bothwell brings an unusual perspective to a food brand: she is both a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition and a Registered Dietitian. Her work in nutrition spans more than two decades, and Mother F grew directly from the practical challenges she saw people face.

Her formal training includes a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition from Rutgers University and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist training from Loma Linda University. She is also the creator of the TakeTEN® Lifestyle, which grew from a 10-day lifestyle medicine program developed at Adventist Health St. Helena Hospital in Napa Valley.

Her approach starts with food rather than a single headline nutrient. Protein matters. Fiber matters. Carbohydrates and fats matter. So do portion size, ingredient quality, taste and whether a food is realistic enough to become part of someone's life.

That philosophy is visible in Mother F's formulation. Instead of building a bar around isolated protein and a long list of flavoring systems, the ingredient list begins with foods such as almond butter, honey, oats, fruit, nuts and seeds.

Dr. Cheryl's role also gives Mother F an opportunity to make nutrition education a larger part of the brand. The goal of this journal is not to diagnose or prescribe. It is to help consumers understand labels, ingredients and nutrition claims so they can make better-informed decisions.

The Mother F Takeaway

Mother F believes better food decisions start with understanding what you are eating: the ingredients, the nutrition panel, the portion and the role that food is meant to play in your day.
